Wheeler: Facility Dog

Souderton School District and Wheeler

Facility Dog

Wheeler was placed as a Facility Dog in May 2024 in the Souderton Area School District. At the High School, he helps kids who are dealing with trauma and loss, navigating executive functioning, and managing general teenage angst. At the Elementary School, he helps de-escalate situations, models emotional regulation and mindfulness, and offers deep pressure therapy.

“Wheeler has won the district’s heart with his signature ‘Wheelie Woo’ and gentle but goofy personality. He struts into the buildings offering support to students with processing big feelings, teaching social skills, facilitating hard conversations, being a confidant, and a cheerleader. Wheeler has brought our Souderton community even closer by lifting both students and staff up, making us smile everyday.”

~ Emily Marzewski, Emotional Support Teacher and Wheeler’s Primary Handler
