Max & Chauncey
Companion Dog
Chauncey was placed with a young boy named Max, who has ADHD, as a companion dog in January 2020. The two of them work together to use Chauncey’s extreme athleticism to help Max with his sequencing skills and focus. They have fun with this by chaining together behaviors like jumping through hoops, going through a tunnel, and retrieving objects. Chauncey also sits with Max while he reads to make a difficult task not only easier, but also enjoyable. Chauncey also snuggles on the bed with Max at bedtime to make going to sleep less difficult. In addition, Chauncey helps teach responsibility and encourages his best friend to spend time outside!
“Chauncey is the best! He helps Max with everything he needs and is part of the family. We can’t imagine life here without him. He’s become my third (and favorite) son.”
